I finally have all of our honeymoon Photo’s Posted. There are quite a few. I have them divided in to categories. click on the honeymoon photo’s link on the right to view. That will bring up a new page. You have to click one of those files to see those pictures. A few people say they can’t see the pictures. I am not sure why they can’t. If you are looking on a dialup connection that may be the problem. Most people are able to view them. Also below is a play by play of how our week went. Enjoy!!!
Our HoneyMoon Story
Hi all, I am going to attempt a “the Dad” type report on our honeymoon trip to Jamaica. We’ll see how it goes……
Sunday:
We were up nice and early to catch an early flight. The flight went fine, although I think it was the pilots first landing ever. A little rough. after customs and everything we where greeted with a beer and scooted off to our bus. it was about hour and a half bus ride. Halfway through the ride the bus driver pulled over at a little bar on the side of the road. He told us this is where you can stretch you legs, use the bathroom, and grab a beer. So we did. Which was my 1st amusing experience of the trip. The bathroom did not have urinals. Basically you just picked a spot and peed on the wall, and it all ran down into a little drain on the floor. Very sanitary. I was amused, along with the 6 other guys peeing on the wall. We got our beer and back on the bus and that was when we learned the real reason for stopping. It was so the bus driver could get himself a beer for the rest of the trip. No accidents all went good.
We got to the resort and got checked in. Nice room with great view of the garden. We were very hungry so went and found the “Cabana grill”. after we ate we took a little walk on the beach where we met our first local. His name was “The Big E”. his exact words to me where “interested in jet ski, parasailing, weed” I said no thanks but he continued to walk with us for a while trying to convince me that his weed was the best in town and he could hook me up. The resort lets all the local people who are selling stuff walk on the beach as long as they stay within 5 feet of the water line. lots of them trying to sell you anything and everything. Deanna and I were tired so we went back to the room at 7pm and decided to take a half hour nap. then check out the nightlife at the resort. unfortunately we woke up from our nap at 1 in the morning. so much for that.
Monday:
Did breakfast at the resort restaurant called “the palms” (we ate there a lot) then hit the beach by late morning. You just sit yourself down on a chair on the beach and they give you a flag. when you want a drink you put up the flag and someone gets you a drink. Very Cool!!! we utilized that a lot. It was a bit cloudy and started to rain. actually rained hard for a good hour. we camped out under the safety of the beach bar, where we met a nice couple from Toronto. This was also the day I met Trevor who would be my beach front cigarette and Cuban cigar dealer. I got a couple of cigars from him. he wanted 40 bucks!! I got him down to 30. then I realized I only had $18 on me. he said no problem, you just owe me $12. He had a great little “chant” that he did. I have it on video so you an hear it. Many drinks later after lunch we found ourselves in the swim up bar with the hot tub. Deanna spent most time in hot tub, me in the pool. We met a couple from Green Bay area that had just gotten married in Ochos Rios the week before. we drank and talked with them for hours. WE DRANK A LOT!! 9:30pm we decided to go to diner, and after diner we were gonna met the couple from Green Bay at the Martini Bar. Needless to say none of us made it that far. To much Red Stripe and Jamaican Rum!!!
Tuesday:
A beautiful sunny day. we spent the entire day on the beach. In and out of the Ocean. I spent my time listening to my Ipod and putting up the drink flag. Deanna would read her book. she finished a whole book that day. We got lots of sun. And of course Trevor hit me up for the remaining $12 bucks. Did diner at the Palms again, where Deanna discovered that they had a pasta bar. where she could get her noodles. she was very happy. I enjoyed all the great spicy meat entree’s they had to offer. after diner we went back to the room and passed out. possibly too much sun and alcohol??
Wednesday
I typically got up earlier that Deanna so I would hang out on the private patio/deck outside our room. There was a resort grounds keeper there who was interested in my Ipod. I introduced him to some Heavy Metal music. After that he pulled out a nice bag of weed from his underwear and proceeded to tell me it was the best stuff in Jamaica. he said he would give me a good price. After I turned him down he told me that I knew where to find him if I changed my mind. I would see him everyday after that and he would wink and smile at me. At this point I am thinking I must look like a pot head.
We decided to venture off the resort for a little shopping excursion. A bus took us into town to all the “good spots” as he called them. We met a mother and daughter from Missouri who would be our shopping buddies. We bought a few things, couple a bottles of rum, more Cuban cigars, T-shirts, and of course Deanna found herself a few purses, etc…. They really weren’t much for bargaining. it was hard to get them down on there prices. and they really didn’t care if you said the price was too much and walked away. all in all we spent a lot of money!!! When we returned it was back to the beach where our 1st casualty of the trip took place. I wasn’t gonna tell anyone, but I figure its gonna leak out eventually. Deanna and I where playing in the Ocean and I proceeded to lose my wedding ring. Tried looking for it, but as some of you know once you drop it in the ocean it GONE!! I felt pretty bad the rest of the day. I look back now and feel that I was just contributing to the already beautiful coral reef off the coast of Negril. We did our usual diner and drinks and hit the beach later that night for a bonfire. where they had a great musician with a wonderful voice. I later bought his CD. It was nice and relaxing.
Thursday
More beach and drinking fun. We did take a snorkeling trip to one of the reefs. Deanna was pretty nervous, but quickly liked the snorkeling. Very neat to see all the colorful fish, squid, coral and other marine life. we were not fortunate enough to see a sting ray though. I was hoping to see one. hopefully next time. I bought an underwater camera so hopefully I got some good pictures. After snorkeling it was, you guessed it, back on the beach till sunset. we watched the sunset pretty much every night. It was always a beautiful site to see. I got tons of sunset pictures
Friday
We decided to eat breakfast at a different place this time. Another restaurant called The Patio’s Patio. Deanna could get her Cheese Omelet. This was a morning that Deanna was eagerly anticipating, because they offered a basket making class. Deanna and I both learned how and made our own baskets. Hers was much better than mine, but we both really enjoyed it. I think Deanna could have sat there all day and made baskets. She asked if she could quit her job and make baskets all day for a living. Anyways back to the beach for sun and red stripe. Surprisingly the only other beer the resort offered was Miller Lite. we drank quiet a bit of both along with all the fruity blended drinks they offered. we mixed and matched. Deanna and I tried to get a little hut on the beach where we could get shade if we wanted it, but we discovered that all the older folks would get up at crack of dawn and reserve those spots. NO FAIR!! The beach was always full of interesting people. I would just sit there listening to my Ipod and watching them. Young and old, American and European. You could always tell the Europeans because the men would were speedo’s and the women would be topless (most older). Anyways that night there were having dinner on the beach, Followed by a beach party. wide assortment of fish and meat, etc… Only problem was that with Deanna being a picky, there was no pasta bar. she couldn’t find anything she liked. I of course had many helpings of the jerk pork, jerk chicken, jerk roast beef etc…. With Deanna still being hungry we left the beach diner and went to The Patio’s Patio where Deanna discovered she could order a cheese pizza. Her face lit up when she found out. I of course had another jerk pork chop. very good. I ate too much that night. after our 2nd diner we went back to the beach party where they had guys walking on fire, burning themselves and of course blowing fire out of there mouths. They also had a Jamaican dance class, which was funny to watch. Deanna and I chose not to participate.
Saturday
our last full day in Paradise, and it was not a good day for Deanna at all. Deanna unfortunately got really sick and couldn’t leave the room. she tried many times, but just couldn’t do it. we think it was the cheese!!!! That left me on my own at the beach. I would walk back to check on Deanna every hour. I basically spent the day watching people and raising my drink flag. And of course was offered more weed by a local who of course said his was the best in Jamaica, because he grew it himself. watched the sunset and went back to the room where we staying in the night. Deanna still not well at all. we were worried she would be like this for the flight back. so it was an early night. By this time I think we were both ready to go home. Of course now that I’m home I think its time to go back!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday
Deanna feeling much better, we had an early bus to get us to the airport. made it through customs with my rum and Cuban cigars. The flight was good, except for the hour and half we spent circling Mitchell airport because of the snow and everything. So we didn’t get home till late evening. We got home to a dog that really didn’t seem to miss us at all. I think he preferred being with his buddy Sequel at the Mecha household.
