DAY 1: 02/24/08

We got up bright and early Sunday morning to catch a 7am plane to the Dominican Republic. The plane ride was fine. For those of you who don’t already know I am somewhat of a reluctant flier, so i was very happy to get off the plane. We got on the bus that would take us to the resort. The ride was…. lets say interesting! You thought the pot holes where bad in Milwaukee. These where more like craters. The drivers on the road where crazy, weaving in and out of traffic avoiding craters, other cars and motorcycles. A few time it looked like we where in for a head on collision. It was scary yet exciting at the same time. Deanna said she just didn’t look. In all it was about a 45 min ride or so. Anyways we got to the resort and got up to our room. Deanna and I had a 3rd floor garden view room. The group was sort of scattered throughout the resort. It was a very nice room with a Hot Tub, balcony, stocked mini bar and Satellite TV (which included Chanel 21) those who where there know what that means. We immediately cracked open our first beer, which is there local brew called Presidente. The beer was VERY GOOD. almost TOO GOOD.

After settling in we checked out some of the resort and got something to eat. All the while drinking, of course! Eventually we met up with most of the group at the Showtime Theater, which would become our nightly cocktail hour meeting place. Most of us decided to go to one of the resort restaurants called the Mediterranean. This would be where i learned my 1st lesson. The hotel had said that all men had to where nice pants and collared shirts for diner. I was wearing khaki shorts and a collared shirt. I got pulled aside and told they would not seat me because i was not wearing pants. I was a little shocked, but complied and went back to the room to put on pants. They then let me in the restaurant.

After Diner we all went back to the Theater where every night at 10pm they had a show. This show was fun. they did songs from MC Hammer, Cher and more. Remember all the while we are drinking. Me more so than Deanna. After the show we hit up the casino. Deanna had enough and was tired. She went back to the room. Dean, my Dad and I stayed in the casino. Dad played Blackjack. Dean and I started out playing poker then switched to Blackjack as well. Lots of hands and Beer later the casino was closing for the night. The time was 3am. We had closed the casino. I think i ended the night + 25 bucks. Can’t remember. sort of a blur. Dad went back to the room. Dean and I very drunk decided to check out the beach. Sat in a chair for a while then decided to call it a night. In bed by 4am. We were both up for 24 hours. Was a great 1st day
