DAY 4: 2/17/09
Today was golf day. The day where Dad and I spend an obscene amount of money to play 18 holes. I was feeling a little better today. I think the 20 bottles of water helped a little. Only problem was i had to pea every 10 minutes. Thebus picked us up at 10am for our 11am tee time. We just bring our own golf shoes and balls. We choose to rent the clubs from the course. We played with a very nice man named Kai, who was originally from Finland i think. Who now lives in San Diego. He was a much better golfer than Dad and I. It was a beautiful course. Had lots of Iguana’s and a strange monkey looking animal which i have pictures off. This course was also very tough. I brought 9 golf balls with me. by the end of the 3rd hole i had lost 4 of them. I was a little afraid that at the turn i was gonna have to run to the club house and buy a few more which would probably cost me my spleen or something. Through playing i managed to find 3 balls in the woods, none of which where mine. That brought my grand total up to 12 golf balls. Which worked out in my favor, because i ended up with only 2 golf balls left after the 18 holes. For those of you keeping track…. that’s right, i lost 10 golf balls. I was hitting the ball good and solid. only problem was they where hit good and solid right into the woods. And let me tell you, once they go in there they ain’t coming out. Every couple of holes there would be a Mexican boy who would pop out of the woods holding a big bag of golf balls to sell us if needed. I am sure a few where mine in those bags. Looking back i figure i was doing those boys a favor. I helped contribute to there lucrative business of golf ball resale. The round took about 6 hours. The longest 18 i have ever played. Like i said before Kai was a very good golfer, but by the end of the round he was picking up some of our bad habits. Dad and i both apologized to him for that. Our scores will never be revealed, but it was still fun to play. Can now say we played golf in Cancun.
While we where golfing the ladies did there thing. Beach and pool stuff. Deanna painted a few ceramic little jewelry holders. They turned out very good. She did and excellent job. Dad and I returned to the resort around 6pm. Man was i done. No cocktail hour or diner for me. Deanna and i stayed in that night. We ordered room service and i basically slept.
